Night of Disguise: Seattle Art Museum

The Seattle Art Museum recently celebrated the opening of their new exhibition, Disguise: Masks and Global African Art, with the event "Night of Disguise." Similar to SAM's popular event "REMIX," the museum turned into a full fledged party with live music, performances, art activities and tours - for all ages! I had the opportunity to attend the event and post as @samteens on Instagram. Here are a few highlights from the night:

The ChimaTEK Virtual Chimeric Space. Saya Woolfalk's installation in Disguise gets activated by the dance group, The Empathics. 

Disguise yourself-ie. Take a selfie with masks - a crowd favorite from the exhibition.

Feature performances: 

Jacolby Satterwhite caught mid break-dance, performing "Reifying Desire" through digital
media and dance. 

This was a moment straight out of the movie "Night at the Museum." Huge multimedia sculptures stood stationary through out the majority of the evening. Suddenly, toward the end of the night, the sculptures started shifting and people emerged from them. A slightly confusing yet captivating interpretive dance ensued.

Jack and I had a great time attending Night of Disguise and I ran into so many lovely SAM and UW colleagues. Catch upcoming fun with the Summer at SAM series at the Olympic Sculpture Park.
